5 Reasons to Document Your Fitness Journey

I fired my fitness Instagram account back up around 7 months ago now📱I started a new sport and wanted to document my progress not only to keep track of any personal improvements, but also to inspire others. It has helped me tremendously; it’s been my go-to on days I doubt myself and a way to look back on old videos to reflect on how far I’ve come🏋🏽‍♀️

So why do I recommend for others to document their fitness journeys on social media?🤔

1) First off, social media like Instagram and Facebook are HUGE platforms that (can) attract big audiences👨‍👩‍👧‍👦Not that you’ll be posting for followers and likes, but knowing that there are people online with the same goals as you can be motivating! It’s a way to get feedback from people and get that extra bit of support when you need it. Lots of people are in the same boat and there are plenty of influencers online to help you get inspired✨

2) It’s an easy way of visually looking at your journey. Sometimes your brain can play mind games and trick you into thinking you haven’t made any progress, but with pictures and captions about how you’re feeling throughout your journey, you get some reliable stats on how far you’ve really come!🧠

3) It keeps you motivated! By having something to update and focus on, you’re less likely to go off track. When you have something you need to frequently update, it encourages you to carry on making progress so that you have some new posts to publish!🤳🏽

4) By having a fitness account, you can really build a lot of confidence. You are revealing the struggles, reality and excitement of your journey, all the ups and downs, and how there’s a lot more to fitness than an appearance. It can teach you to feel more comfortable in yourself and excepting the fact that you are human, and it’s okay to make mistakes💁🏽‍♀️

5) You create an image of yourself for everyone else to see; this might sound scary, but from my experience it all comes back positive! People get to see how hard you work and how much you want that final goal🥅A lot of people have respect for someone who can be real on social media and display the real struggles and grind you have to go through to reach the final result💪🏻This can be another motivator knowing you have people routing for you!🙋🏽‍♀️🙋🏽‍♂️

Obviously documenting your fitness journey isn’t an essential, but it’s something that has really helped me and inspired me to stay on track💆🏽‍♀️
